Claiming Your Scholarship

Congratulations on receiving a scholarship. To claim your award, complete the following two simple steps.

Step One: Send an email to tracy@s-caf.org at the Stanwood Camano Area Foundation. The message should be sent from an email account that you actively check, and it should include the following information:

  • Your name (in the subject line of the email.)
  • Your mailing address, and telephone number (in the body of the message.)
  • The name and mailing address of where you want us to send the money.
  • Your student ID# or other account information. In other words, we need to tell whoever receives the funds whose account to apply it to. This means you must be enrolled in and registered for classes before you ask us to send funds.

The following statements:

  • I understand I must use this money to pay for my tuition. Once tuition is paid, I may also use the funds for educational related expenses, and that any request for payment for related expenses must be made to the educational institution and comply with its policies and procedures.
  • I understand that the money will be paid directly to the institution I name.
  • I understand I must communicate my intent to claim a scholarship on/before September 15, 2012. (This does not mean you are required to claim the money by September 15. It does mean that you must communicate your intention to claim the award.)
  • I understand that I must communicate my intention at least twice per year (by September 15 and March 15) until I claim the scholarship, and that if I do not communicate in writing with the Foundation my scholarship will be rescinded.

Step Two: Prepare a thank you card to the donor of your scholarship. You will give the thank you card to the Stanwood Camano Area Foundation to deliver for you. Follow these instruction:

 

    • Write a meaningful thank you message to your scholarship donor(s). In addition to saying thank you, donors tell us they enjoy receiving a wallet size picture of you. The thank you card may be purchased or if you prefer - you may make a nice "home-made" card.
    • There must be a personalized, handwritten note inside the card. Address the card to your donor's address (see list below.) 
    • Place a postage stamp on the envelope of the card and your return address. Note: do not seal the envelope for your thank you card and do not mail the thank you card.  The Foundation will send your thank-you note to your donor after we’ve processed your award.

    TO RENEW A SCHOLARSHIP: If you previously received a renewable scholarship, please follow the instructions on this scholarship renewal form before September 1, 2012.
